India might not be known for all-rouders but we have a decent list of them
India might not be the country who has produced star all-rounders like Jacques Kallis, Shahid Afridi, Shane Watson, Andrew Flintoff but surely we have produced all-rounders like Kapil Dev, Irfan Pathan and Ravichandran Ashwin and Hardik Pandya. We will look at all the legendary all-rounders which Indian soil has produced till date.
1. Kapil Dev
Kapil Dev is the legendary captain who led India to World Cup trophy in 1983 from nowhere. The famous win then changed the face of cricket in India. The big all-rounder is one of those rare elites who have taken more than 400 wickets and 5000 runs in Test Cricket.
2. Vinoo Mankad
Vinoo Mankad was the most flexible and stylish right handed batsman who could have batted at any position. In his 13 year long International career from 1946 to 1959, he played 44 Test matches and scored 2109 runs including 5 centuries and 6 half-century. In 6 of those centuries two were double century. Mankad used to bowl with left-arm as he scalped 162 wickets in total.
3. Ravichandran Ashwin
Ravichandran Ashwin is the only current playing cricketer in our list. He might not in the ODI team anymore but we surely know he knows his game. Recognized as one of intelligent minds in the cricket Ashwin known how to go about his business with the variations in his bowling. He has played 65 Test matches scoring 2361 including 4 centuries and also taken 342 wickets. In ODIs he has played 111 match and took 150 wickets.
4. Ravi Shastri
The present coach of the Indian team was one of the finest hitter of his time. The dynamic batsman played 80 matches and scored 3830 runs at an average of 35.79 which included 11 centuries in Tests and 3108 runs with 4 centuries in ODI. The left-arm orthodox bowler took 151 wickets in Test and 129 wickets in ODI.
5. Irfan Pathan
You might have thought that we will miss the swing-king. He was one of the swing bowlers of his team. Who could forget his hat-trick against Pakistan in 2006. This guy played 29 Test matches and scored 1105 runs at an average of 31.57 and scalped 100 wickets. In ODIs he scored 1544 runs in 120 matches and sent batsmen to the pavilion 173 times.
