Ramadan 2022 : The Holy month of Ramadan will begin from April 2, 2022. Well, Ramadan also known as Ramzan is the ninth month in the Islamic Calendar that begins and ends with the appearance of the crescent moon. Notably, the Holy month is widely observed by Muslims all across the globe but in different time zones. Fasting allows Muslims to devote themselves to faith in Allah.
The one – month period of Ramadan is a time when Muslim practice self –restraint in the fast and also abstain themselves in indulging something wrong such as consuming alcohol, saying cuss words, saying negative words. During the holy month, Muslims visiting Masjid is a common sight. It is believed that 1.8 billion Muslims around the world fast during Ramadan. Children are not allowed to fast until they reach puberty.
History of Ramadan
It is the month of remembrance celebration of Quran (Holy Book of Muslim) that was revealed to Prophet Mohammad by angel Gabriel, A.D 610. Muslims believe that The Prophet Mohammad is the last to get teachings from Allah and he is the one who has spread Islamic faith after the Quran. Notably, Ramadan is the Arabic word for scorching heat or dryness. Ramadan originated in the 7th century and since then it is celebrated to grow the human bond with Allah.
Ramadan is celebrated with utmost zeal among the Muslim community. From fasting to decorating homes, people enjoy it with all their heart. Fanoos (Lanterns) are used to decorate and illuminate buildings and homes.
Ramadan 2022: Rules for Fasting
During Ramadan Muslims fast from Dusk to Dawn. Here are a few rules that one should follow while fasting during the holy month.
- It is believed that praying at least 5 times a day is important for Muslims who fast in Ramadan else fasting is not accepted by Almighty Allah.
- Muslims who help the poor and underprivileged are blessed by Allah during the Holy Month.
- Muslims are required to practice dhikr which means praying to Allah and appreciating him. It is believed that it strengthens the bond between devotee and his creator.
- Muslims can pray for the health and wellness for themselves and the family as Allah doesn’t leave anyone go empty handed during the time of fasting.
- People are expected to keep negative thoughts at bay. During the Holy month, it is believed that doing good brings blessings of Allah.
