In Hindu scriptures, Maa Kushmanda is revered as the creator of the universe, believed to have illuminated the world with her divine smile and energy. Her name, “Kushmanda,” originates from Sanskrit, with “Ku” denoting “a little,” “Ushma” symbolizing “warmth,” and “Anda” signifying “cosmic egg.” Experts emphasize that the aura surrounding her represents her ability to exude positivity and light. Devotees seek her blessings for happiness, health, and prosperity, hoping to overcome life’s obstacles and challenges.

Puja Vidhi & Bhog

To perform the puja, it is recommended to place the goddess’s idol on a chowki and offer red flowers, kumkum, and ghee aarti. Red, believed to be her favourite colour, is adorned by devotees on this day as well. A unique aspect of the worship is the offering of malpuas as prasad since it is said that Goddess Kushmanda favours these sweet pancakes(malpua). Reciting the sacred texts of Durga Saptashati or Siddh Kunjika Stotra is considered highly beneficial. It is believed that through the worship of Goddess Kushmanda, one’s intellect can be enhanced. Moreover, for those who have been grappling with prolonged illnesses, adhering to the prescribed rituals during this worship is thought to bring about good health and well-being.
