One of the most important things that we forget is that just as our skin needs care during the monsoon, so does our hair. We will notice that during the rainy season our hair gets damp very easily and also becomes oily (dpending on the health of your scalp).

However, taking good care of your scalp is important to have luscious and beautiful hair. So how can you take care of your health of your scalp this monsoon season?

  1. Keep your scalp clean- This means using a mild chemical and sulphate free shampoo to remove the dirt and sweat from your hair. Make sure you do this at regular intervals.
  2. The rainy season might make the weather a little cool at sometimes, but this doesn’t mean that we use hot water for our hair. Hot water will strip away natural oils from our scalp, making it prone to more irritation.
  3. One of the things that we usually forget is to condition our hair after shampooing. Make sure that you use a hydrating conditioner on your hair strands and not on your scalp area.
  4. The rainy season means unpredictable rains and if you get caught in the rain it will make your hair damp or wet. This can often lead to fungal infections if you do not dry your scalp. So make sure you dry your hair with a towel or let it air dry instead of tying it up.
  5. Massage your scalp regularly with natural and organic oil, such as coconut oil or sesame oil. However, make sure that you don’t over oil because that can attract more dirt and make your scalp greasy.
  6. Whenever you’re stepping out during the monsoon season, carry an umbrella that will keep your scalp protected from the rains and avoid any skin infection.
  7. Have a balanced diet and proper hydration for better scalp health. We often forget that if we are healthy from the within, our scalp will also be healthy. Taking care of the scalp not only requires external care, but also good internal health.
