This International Tiger Day 2023, let us take a moment to appreciate the beautiful fauna and wildlife of India. India boasts of 3167 tigers according to the 2023 Tiger Census. This makes India home to almost 75% of the global tiger population. The government has stepped up its game in tiger conservation and over the years has seen an increase in the number of tigers in India. India has 53 tiger reserves and here are some of the best tiger reserves that you should visit to celebrate the rich wildlife and pride of India. 

  1. Ranthambore, Rajasthan 

Located in the Sawai Madhopur district of Rajasthan, Ranthambore is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Rajasthan. From beautiful landscapes to temples and exceptional Safari, Ranthambore offers something for every traveler.

2. Kanha National Park, Madhya Pradesh 

Rudyard Kipling’s “The Jungle Book” was inspired by this park and is known for its dense forests and grasslands. You can also spot swamp deer, leopards, and other wildlife species here.

3. Jim Corbett Tiger Reserve, Uttarakhand

This is one of the oldest national parks of India which was established in 1936 and is named after the hunter-turned-conservationist, Jim Corbett. A short drive from the national capital of the country, this place is a perfect weekend getaway if you are looking for some greenery and peace. 

4. Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve, Madhya Pradesh

Central India has a rich wildlife population and Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve is known for its high density of tigers. This means that the probability of spotting a tiger here is much higher. Wildlife photographers will also enjoy this tiger reserver as it offers some excellent backdrops.

5. Kaziranga National Park, Assam
