Friendship Day is a lovely festivity, which is devoted to the friendship and companionship. Special Friends Day is one that aims at celebrating friends and conveying a message to those people who are so close and dear to us. The Origins of Friendship Day
Friendship Day was originally suggested by the founder of the American company Hallmark, Joyce Hall in 1930. Hall wanted people to celebrate friendship by writing cards and notes to their friends as a sign that they are cares for them. At first, the concept did not attract much attention and the celebration was still insignificant. However, the idea that would lead to what is celebrated as a world event has been sown.

The First Official Friendship Day
Friendship day is initially celebrated for the first time on July 30, 1958, in Paraguay. Despite some patrons being taciturn, the concept was initiated by Dr. Ramon Artemio Bracho when he was talking to friends over dinner. Dr. Bracho for instance suggested a celebration focused on friends and support for the establishment of amity. This he proposed and was well accepted and within a short time celebration was like roasted beans across South America.
International Recognition
Despite this, the importance of Friendship Day persisted and in 2011 the United Nations voted to adopt July 30 as the International Friendship Day. The UN’s designation intended to raise awareness for peaceful intentions and generally well-being of people and civilizations across the globe. However, modern celebrations of Friendships are prevalent, especially In India and most other countries including America, this is annually held on the first Sunday of the month August.

Friendship Day 2024
This year, friendship day will be observed on the 4th of August in many countries of the world, in 2024. It reminds people to value their friendship which may be old but also to develop new friendships. Friends share gifts, and cards, and send messages, and spend more time together: they discuss the incidents that took place in the past and have fun, resulting in the formation of new memories.
