World Refugee day happens every year on June 20 and recognizes the bravery and courage of people who have been forced to escape their own nation.
Know About World Refugee Day
Although the World Refugee Day is observed globally such a day has been created by the United Nations in hope to celebrate refugees across the world. It is usually observed on Midsummer’s day, that is the 20th of June and is meant to honor refugees and internally displaced persons who have had to leave their home country because of conflict or persecution. Hoping this fundamental, World Refugee Day is a time also to cultivate solidarity for refugees and to appreciate their efforts to regain their lives.

Refugees
A refugee is anybody who had to leave his or her country and dwelling to evade ‘ persecution due to race, religion, nationality, membership of a particular social group or political opinion’, as defined by the United Nations 1951 Refugee convention. A good number of refugees exist in the society to escape resulting from natural disasters or calamities as well as human-made disasters.
Asylum Seekers-
It has been reported that asylum seekers announce that they are refugees and are in a given country as refugees do, but their status is not yet certified as refugees to warrant protection under the refugee status in the country they fled to.
Internally Displaced Persons
The Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) are people who did not leave their country but became displaced within their country to a place that had not been their residence.
Stateless Persons-
Aptly, Stateless persons are those who cannot be affiliated to any country and as such do not hold an internationally recognized nationality.
The occurrence of statelessness situations are normally as a result of discrimination being exercised on particular communities. They are invisible citizens, for they do not possess what the state holds most valuable — a citizenship certificate — that can bar them from using basic social services such as health care, education or employment.

Returnees
Returnees are individuals who find themselves repatriated and relocating to their own countries or regions after some time out of their home area. It is, therefore, important to monitor and reintegrate returns to facilitate their recovery back at home.
