Born into a humble background, Delhi’s tea-seller daughter, Amita, was a contradiction to all odds as she wanted to achieve the status of becoming a Chartered Accountant (CA). Her inspiring journey was really a reflection of how sheer hard work, patience, and unwavering support from the immediate family can help overcome each of the toughest challenges.

Amita’s journey was not easy. Drowning in all that negativity and mockery in a slum, she was never the type of student who could boast of being above average. Relatives and society alike had serious doubts in her abilities. “Why are you putting her through such a big course? She won’t be able to do it,” many of them would say. Yet, standing like a rock, there was her father, who always believed in her potential even when no one else did.
Amita shared her emotional story in a touching LinkedIn post, revealing how her father’s unwavering belief in her kept her going. She recalled how people mocked their financial struggles, advising her father to not invest money on her education. “They used to say you can’t afford to educate her like this,” she remembered. “Save money and build a house instead.”. But despite the harsh remarks, her father still kept supporting her, without ever letting go of the dream he had set for her.

Amita’s road to becoming a CA was a long and grueling one, taking a decade of hard work and sacrifices. Living in a slum didn’t define Amita; it fueled her desire to make the most of herself. She gave herself reasons to prove the cynics wrong. Her intent was unwavering, and she constantly reminded herself that her dreams are worthy of fighting for. In her post, she proudly shared, “Some people used to say, ‘slum-dwellers, with motivated minds.’ True, absolutely correct. If my mind wasn’t determined, I wouldn’t have reached here today.”

Amita’s success does not only stand for her; it comes as a present for her family. With the CA degree in hand, she is now able to have dreamt of her father.
