Top Rankings
Global rankings for happiness show Nordic countries continue their leadership position during the 2025 report.
1. Finland: Maintained its leading position with an average score of 7.74.
2. Denmark secured position two in the rankings because its society displays high trust levels combined with strong well-being standards.
3. The nation of Iceland secured placement in the third spot based on its solid community ties together with favorable quality of life standards.
Israel and Costa Rica and Mexico rank respectively as positions 8 and 6 and 10 among the top ten countries according to the survey.
India’s Position
In 2025 India progressed in its happy ranking by achieving position 118 from 126 in the previous year among 147 countries assessed. At the same time India maintains lower rank positions compared to its neighboring countries which showcases the necessity of additional improvement in happiness-determining aspects such as social support structures and health services and income equality systems.
Global Observations
Other countries show significant alterations according to the report.
The United States managed to drop to its lowest position ever at position 24 in the rankings while its rising solo dining statistics contributed to this decline.
Australia represents one of three nations that have shifted their ranking position downwards since appearing in the top 10 happiest countries list. Currently they occupy the 11th spot in the 2025 World Happiness Report.
The conditions affecting well-being in Afghanistan show no improvement because the nation holds the position as the least happy country worldwide.
Conclusion
The World Happiness Report 2025 establishes social relationships alongside trust and community activism as essential elements to achieve national happiness. The different rankings show that Finland along with other Nordic states leads the way yet the changing metrics expose the multidimensional hurdles and advantages which affect national citizen well-being in different countries.
