Tuesday Thailand’s Senate approved the third and final reading of the marriage equality bill that will make the country the first in Southeast Asia to acknowledge same-sex unions. The bill that advocates for gay marriage have been pushing for more than 20 years passed through the upper house of parliament with majority of the lawmakers voting in its favor. This law, which requires the royal assent to approve, will only commence 120 days after it has been printed into the royal gazette making the first same sex marriages possible later this year.
