After the violence during the Shobha Yatra in Jahangirpuri, Delhi, the MCD (Municipal Corporation of Delhi) bulldozed alleged illegal occupations in Jahangirpuri. This action continued even after the Supreme Court ordered to maintain the status quo. However, in the same line, various fake news were doing rounds on the internet.

Kisne feka: An image of a demolished mosque is doing rounds on social media. In the viral photo, half-demolished minarets of the mosque can be seen. What is interesting is that some pillars of the demolished mosque are identical to those of the Temple. People shared this image on social media, claiming that the remains of Veerabhadreshwara temple were found during the demolition of the mosque’s minaret to widen a road in Raichur, Karnataka.
Foolproof: In a report in Deccan Herald dated 15 April 2016, some pillars resembling Hindu places of worship were found under the ‘Ek Minar’ mosque during the road widening, following which right-wing organizations demanded an inquiry into the matter.

Kisne feka: A video of people raising slogans favouring PM Modi goes viral on social media. In the viral video, people can be heard chanting “Modi Ji lath bajao hum tumare Saath Hai”. It is being claimed that the viral video shows a recent rally in favour of the government after the Jahangirpuri violence.
Foolproof: The viral claim is false. The same footage appeared in a Facebook video dated 25 December 2019. According to the description, the viral video is related to the Pro-CAA NRC rally. In the video, a great deal of people was wearing sweaters and jackets, suggesting that the rally was held during the winter. It means that the viral video is not recent.

In the viral video, a shop with the name Bhutani Sons and Varma Jewellers written on it. on Google Maps and found that these shops are located in Laxmi Nagar, Delhi, and not in Jahangirpuri.

Kisne feka: A video has gone viral across social media, which shows a heated argument between a police officer and a Muslim man. Video of the incident has gone viral in the context of communal violence in Delhi’s Jahangirpuri area. Sudarshan News journalist Santosh Chauhan also shared this viral video.

Foolproof: The viral claim is false. Sudarshan News shared this video with a similar caption on March 18, 2021. The incident took place at a bus stand in Chopda city of Jalgaon district of Maharashtra.
He shouts something along the lines of “Don’t threaten me with an arrest!” in Marathi. The signboard noticeable in the background also carries words written in Marathi such as the names of locations in Maharashtra. Also, the police badge on the uniform worn by the police officer is specifically emblazoned on the uniforms worn by Maharashtra police officers. It has nothing to do with recent Jahangirpuri violence.
