‘Naatu Naatu’ from Rajamouli’s ‘RRR’ made history by becoming the first Indian film to win an Oscar for best original song. RRR is the first Indian film in over 2 decades to be nominated for the Academy Awards while ‘Naatu Naatu’ is the first Indian song to be nominated at the Oscars.
Composed by MM Keeravaani, the energetic song was also performed at the Academy Awards.

A golden moment in the history of Nagaland has come as 56-year-old Salhoutonou Kruse became one of Nagaland’s first 2 women to become a lawmaker in its 60 years of statehood.
She is from National Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) and won the election by 7 votes. Hekani Jakhalu, from NDPP, is the other woman lawmaker who won Dimapur- III by over 1500 votes.

Colonel Geeta Rana became the first woman officer to take over the command of an independent unit in the sensitive Ladakh sector, the Corps of Electronics and Mechanical Engineers (EME).
She was commissioned into the army in 2000 and has a 23-year military career. She has served in different places including Sikkim and Jammu and Kashmir. She also served as an instructor at an EME training establishment.

Aparna Kumar, an IPS officer from Uttar Pradesh, has become the first woman IPS officer to scale 7 top peaks. Inspiring many she has conquered summits, racing ahead and ascending one mountain after another.
The 7 summits are the highest mountain summits on each of the world’s 7 traditional continents.

Inspiring young girls group captain Shaliza Dhami has become the first woman officer in the Indian Air Force to command a front-line combat unit.
She will command a missile squadron in the western sector. She was commissioned as a helicopter pilot in 2003. She has over 2800 hours of flying experience and is commended by Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief on 2 occasions.
6. Good news: ‘Golden Tiger’ spotted for the first time in 2023 at Assam’s Kaziranga National Park
A golden tiger also called the golden tabby tiger, is an extremely rare animal of the particular colour variation which is caused by a recessive gene that is currently only found in captive tigers. The rare ‘golden tiger’ was recently spotted for the first time in 2023 at Kaziranga National Park.
There have been fewer than 30 sightings in the world and the last time they were sighted was also in Kaziranga National Park in 2020.
7. Khush Khabri: India wins 3 gold in Asian cross country championships
With its fantabulous performance, India clinched 3 team gold and 1 bronze medal at the 16th Asian cross country championships. Gold medals were bagged in Under-20 boys 8 km, under-18 girls 6 km and senior women’s 10 km team events. The men’s 10k team won a bronze medal.
