Scripting history Sajan Bhanwal became the first-ever Indian Greco-Roman wrestler to bag a medal at the under-23 world championship. To achieve this feat, he defeated Ukraine’s Dmytro Vasetskyi in the 77kg bronze medal play-off at Pontevedra, Spain.

He registered a 10-10 victory by points over his opponent.

Good news: Jammu & Srinagar to have 200 electric buses

Twin capital cities of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K), Jammu and Srinagar, will soon have 200 electric buses as Tata motors have bagged the tender for the same.

Under the government of J&K’s initiative for environmentally friendly public transportation, 150 units of 9-metre and 50 units of 12-metre Starbus electric buses will be launched. Tata motors are also expected to supply, operate and maintain Tata Starbus electric buses for 12 years.

Khush Kabri: The US returned 307 smuggled antiquities worth $4 million 

A big win for India in its efforts to preserve its heritage as it regained antiquities worth $4 million, i.e., nearly $33 crore from the US. There are a total of 307 antiquities, most of which were smuggled.

Out of these precious masterpieces, there are Vishnu and Lakshmi with Garuda dating to the 11th century C.E., Arch Parikara, crafted from marble and dated to the 12-13th century.

The Indian basketball team created history as they qualified for the world cup for the first time. The four-member India team booked their place in the Fiba 3×3 U-17 Asia Cup, which concluded in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

The team, including Jaideep Rathore, Harsh Dagar, Lokendra Singh and Kushal Singh, fulfilled India’s dream and became the 1st in the 88-year history of basketball in India to participate in the World Cup, scheduled next year.

Good news: 108 feet tall Indian flag hoisted in Kashmir’s Kupwara

A 108-feet national flag was hoisted in Kashmir at the place where the JKLF founder Maqbool Bhat was caught in the 1970s. In the Kupwara region of North Kashmir, this is the tallest flag. It is installed in Langate park, in Handwara.

The project’s Foundation stone was laid on 5 July 2022, and the national flag was dedicated to the nation. This monumental national flag will attract thousands of visitors, enhance the region’s beauty, and instill a sense of national pride in the locals.

Rudrankksh Patil becomes 2nd Indian shooter to win 10m air rifle gold at the world championship

Young Rudrankksh Patil won the gold medal in the men’s 10m air rifle event in the ISSF world championship at Cairo, becoming only the 2nd Indian to achieve the feat after Abhinav Bindra.

Patil pulled off a dramatic 17-15 victory over Italy’s Danio Dennis Sollazzo in the gold medal match and secured his berth for the 2024 Paris Olympics.
