Chief Justice UU Lalit recommended appointing Justice DY Chandrachud, the senior-most judge after him, as his successor and next CJI.

As the 50th Chief Justice of India, Justice DY Chandrachud will take oath on November 9, 2022. Justice Chandrachud, son of the 16th and longest-serving chief justice of India, Justice YV Chandrachud will have a tenure of almost 2 years.

Himachal Pradesh gets first-of-its-kind water sports centre

The first of its kind in Himachal Pradesh water sports centre, jointly initiated by the sports authority of India (SAI) and the national thermal power corporation (NTPC), was inaugurated in Kollam Barman, Bilaspur, Himachal Pradesh.

The centre will train athletes in water sports like Rowing, Canoeing and Kayaking.

MBBS course to be taught in Hindi

Home minister Amit Shah will launch medical education in Hindi in Madhya Pradesh by releasing translated MBBS 1st yearbooks in Bhopal on October 16.

This is the 1st time in India that MBBS will be taught in Hindi. This is a step in putting into practice the idea that one can move ahead through education in the Hindi medium. The move will change the perception that medical and engineering courses can’t be leant and taught in Hindi.

BCCI set to launch 5 team women’s IPL in March 2023

The long-awaited women’s IPL is set to become a reality next year. The BCCI plans a 5-team tournament for March 2023, immediately after the Women’s T20 World Cup ends in South Africa on February 26.

The BCCI’s proposed plan involves 22 matches, with each squad comprising 18 players with a maximum of 6 from overseas. No more than five overseas players can feature in a playing XI, with four from Full Member countries and one from an Associate nation.

Delhi Zoo launches animal adoption scheme

The Delhi Zoo has allowed people to adopt wildlife and pay for animal care at the facility. This is said to be for the 1st time that the scheme has been launched at the Delhi Zoo.

The National Zoological Park, or the Delhi Zoo, has around 1100 species of animals, including birds and reptiles. Animals like tigers, birds, snakes, and elephants, among others, are likely animals that would be put up for adoption.

Singapore Airlines cannot fire pregnant cabin crew now

According to Singapore Airlines Ltd., pregnant cabin crew can remain employees, reversing a much-criticised and longstanding policy. Responding to a Straits Times article, said pregnant flight attendants “may choose to work in a temporary ground attachment” and can resume flying duties after maternity leave.

 Before the updated rules took effect on July 15, the newspaper said that flight attendants who disclosed they were pregnant were put on leave without pay. In addition, they were forced to quit the airline the day after submitting their child’s birth certificate.

 According to the report, to fly again, the pregnant crew had to reapply for a new job under a program that didn’t guarantee reemployment.
