Indian army to have 4 lakh carbines, 47000 bulletproof jackets
The Indian army is gearing to procure 4.25lakh close-quarter battle carbines and 47627 bulletproof jackets as it has released two Requests for Information (RFI).
As per the RFI, the cabin must fire the in-service Indian 5.56 × 45mm ammunition and must be equipped with an effective range of not less than 200 meters.

In a first, the Uttar Pradesh assembly dedicates a special session to women legislators
Taking a first-of-its-kind initiative, Uttar Pradesh reserved a special assembly session dedicated to women members.
Women are expected to speak in the house during this special day-long session. UP legislative assembly has 47 women MLAs, including 22 first-timers.
Lucknow to soon get all women market
Promoting female entrepreneurship and trading, Lucknow will soon get an all-women market. The stone laying ceremony of the entire market in the city’s Charbagh area is expected to be held on October 19.
The market will have an extensive underground parking area of 2848 metres, in which about 40 four-wheelers can be parked at a time. Also, this women’s market will be three-storeyed. It will have 125 shops of 12.50 square metres.

Participation of women’s defence bodies marked a golden moment as, for the 1st time, the Indian Air Force (IAF) deployed two women combat pilots to fly Chinook helicopters.
Squadron leaders Parul Bhardwaj and Swati Rathore will operate Chinook helicopter units near LAC in the northern and eastern sectors. Previously these squadron leaders were flying the Russian-origin Mi-17V5 helicopters.

Indian boxing clinched 19 medals in the 40th golden glove of the Vojvodina youth boxing tournament in Serbia, proving India’s dominance in boxing.
Bhawna Sharma (48kg), Devika Ghorpade (52 kilograms), Kunjarani Devi (60kg), Ravina (63kg) and Kirti (+81kg) finished on top of the podium. On the final day, on top of the stage. On the last day of the tournament, India clinched ten gold medals.
