From Smriti Irani insulting Goddess Durga to calling the Assam floods “Flood jihad’, here is the fake news of the week from the column of the Kisne Feka series.

Smriti Irani insulted Goddess Durga!

Kisne Feka: A video of Smriti discussing Goddess Durga has gone viral. She said, “Durga Puja is the most controversial racial festival, where the fair-skinned goddess Durga is depicted brutally killing a dark-skinned native called Mahishasura.” People on social media claimed that Smriti Irani insulted Goddess Durga in Parliament.

Foolproof: The viral claim is false. The BJP YouTube handle is dated February 24, 2016, in which the same footage can be seen. According to the video, Smirti Irani was responding to the criticism of the government over its handling of the events at JNU by stating that “anti-national” events had taken place at the campus.

 Smriti Irani was talking about the pamphlet which was allegedly distributed in JNU on February 10, 2016. The pamphlet talked about Mahishasura and Goddess Durga. It means Smriti Irani was reading the pamphlet which was distributed in JNU.

A Muslim scholar advocated Hindus, “Should take an extremist stance against Muslims”

Fake news: A video of a person giving a provocative speech is making the rounds on the internet. Muslim scholars are alleged to have advocated Hindus taking an extremist stance against Muslims.

Foolproof: The viral claim is false. The person in the video is Acharya Prashant, who belongs to the Hindu community. The tweet was by user @SurajitDasgupta.

Acharya Prashant tweeted the same video on his Twitter. According to the translated caption, “The Quran teaches terror.”. What have you learned from the Vedas? Don’t be afraid to fight. “

Acharya Prashant stated after the video went viral, denying the viral claim. He wrote, “Before copy-pasting and forwarding anything from WhatsApp University, check it and then forward it. In the video, I am explaining that focus on yourself and not on Muslims, and still, they have found a Muslim in me. It is amazing. “

Is the Assam Flood man-made, created by Muslim people?

Fake news: The Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma, asserted that the flooding situation was man-made by some ‘miscreants.’ Following his comments, the Assam police arrested Mithu Hussain Laskar, Kabul Khan, Ripon Khan, and Nazir Hussain Laskar. After the arrest, several media outlets claimed that the floods in Assam’s Silchar were ‘man-made’, created by people from the Muslim community.

Foolproof: The viral claim is misleading. Cachar SP Ramandeep Kaur and Assam CM Biswa Sarma clarified that the term ‘flood jihad’ is baseless. SP Kaur said, “There is no communal angle behind the incident.” It is purely a matter of some affected people breaking the dyke. She also promised to take action against those spreading “flood jihad” rumours on social media.

Girl washed away with sea waves is from Mumbai beach!

Kisne Feka: A video went viral recently where High waves washed away two women playing in the sea. It has been claimed that the video is from Mumbai’s Bandra beach.

Foolproof: Viral video is from the Mughsail area in the Dhofar Governorate of Oman. Therefore, it is not from India.
