With increased threats from terrorists, the Indian Govenrment is drafting a new ‘Encryption Policy’.
This policy covers all electronic communications, including emails, SMSes and Whatsapp, etc.
Since the data is highly encrypted, interception by security agencies is getting more and more difficult.
To get around this problem, the Indian Government is proposing to make it mandatory for such service providers to store all such communications at their end for at least 90 days.
This shuold give enough time for them to examine and evaluate the data, if required.
