U.P CM’s ‘School Chalo Campaign’

The Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister, Akhilesh Yadav has written a letter to the MP’s, MLA’s, District and Town area Panchayat Chairman and heads of school management committees to come together to make the ‘School Chalo Campaign’ a success.


“It was our moral responsibility to ensure that all children in the state were given primary education”, said the forty-one year old Chief Minister. In his letter he also informed about the Right to Education which all children between age group of 6-14 years have but are not utilizing. He also concentrated on the new academic session that has begun and why it is more important to emphasize on this mission as much as possible. Being the most populated state of India, Uttar Pradesh is still facing issues such as poverty and illiteracy. According to an estimated data, Uttar Pradesh ranks at the 20th place with a literacy rate of 75.2% amongst the total 29 states in India.

In his letter, the Chief Minister also writes, “Education not only develops the mental faculties of a child but also breaks age old dogmas and superstitions prevalent in the society”. He further urged all the communities, especially the minorities, SC/ST, deprived, poor, socially and economically backward people to bring their children to the schools and be a part of ‘SchoolChalo Abhiyaan’.


The youngest Chief Minister of the state, Akhilesh Yadav has completed more than two years of his term. However, the recently concluded Lok Sabha elections did not show any good result for the Samajwadi Party. It managed to win mere five seats.


Concluding his letter, he requested everyone to make the programme a mission for life and to step out of their homes to make the programme a huge success for the betterment of the society, for the future of our country.
