TRAI comes down hard on call drops
Telecom Regulatory Authority of India has come down hard on cell phone operators, with call drops becoming epidemic.
Call drops started earlier this year, and their numbers kept increasing. India’s PM Narendra Modi also spoke against this. However, no corrective action was taken by the telecom operators so far.
To make them take action in this context, the TRAI has mandated that for each call drop, the cell phone operator will have to compensate the user with Re.1 per drop. Further, the cell phone operator will have to sms the user within 4 hours of the event, and even mention it in the bill, in case the customer is post paid.
