Toyota unveils the fuel cell vehicle (FCV) in Japan
Self-driven cars, flying cars and many others that we have seen in sci-fi flicks in the past will be the future of automobiles. Most of the manufacturers including Toyota have been working on powering cars from fuel sources other than petrol and diesel. Toyota recently unveiled their fuel cell vehicle (FCV) in Japan on June 25, 2014.
FCV will be on sale in Japan before April 2015 and will be priced at approximately 7 Million Yen or 40000 pounds or about $70000. The car will be launched in UK and US once the availability of the hydrogen fuel is there.
The car uses hydrogen as its main fuel source. Hydrogen has higher energy density than electricity, and can be stored easily. Hydrogen is the gas that goes into fuel cells and generates electricity with water as the only residue. This electricity drives the motor that delivers a smooth performance as that of an electric car. FCV is better than the available electric cars for it takes just a few minutes for refueling compared to few hours of recharging. The FCV also has more driving range. Toyota is working on making hydrogen fuel available across US and UK before launching the car in those markets. The age of future has started and we all will be a witness.
