The Quirky Khalifa
Helmed & presented by a bunch of newcomers, ‘Lekar Hum Deewana Dil’ is one of the most awaited films of the year 2014. It marks the debut of actor Armaan Jain, who is legendary actor Raj Kapoor’s grandson. He always had interest in films and with cousins Karishma, Kareena and Ranbir already established actors it was obvious for him to join showbiz and carry forward the lineage.
The up-beat & youth centric movie has been directed by noted film-maker Imtiaz Ali’s brother Arif Ali, who has also written the script of the film. South actress Deeksha Seth is also making her Bollywood debut with this Eros International and Illuminati Films production. LHDD is a film about making mistakes and growing along them. It revolves around the lives of two friends who take decisions, face consequences and learn from them. It reflects the “act first, think later” sentiments of today’s youth and how relationships fail over unrealistic expectations.
Apart from the fresh approach the music of the film is also very spirited and vibrant, it comes up as one of the biggest USPs. The first track to be released ‘Khalifa’ is quite catchy and appealing and is surely here to stay. With the base of electronic music and some crazy lyrics by Amitabh Battarchary it is a peppy number which will soon rock the discotheques across the country.
Oscar winner A.R Rahman is the man behind this wonderful album. “I really enjoyed working with Arif, Dinoo and Amitabh. ‘Khalifa’ is a result of our jam session we had before making the soundtrack of LHDD. Hope people embrace it and support this effort, God Bless,” is what the maestro had to say about his upcoming venture.
Reportedly, the track had been written and recorded in just one night and the production house was thrilled to have this piece under their banner, “Khalifa was the first session that we had with Rahman sir and this track just came together that night with a life of its own and it just sets the tone of the album. It manages to capture the state of mind of today’s generation; it’s not just a song but an experience, is what Dinesh Vijan of Illuminati Films had to say about the whole experience.
Amitabh Bhattacharya, who had also written the perky and energetic ‘Badtameez Dil’, coined the term ‘Khalifa’ as soon as he heard the track. He said “Khalifa being the first and main song of the film, had to be something very catchy, we were in search of a perfect phrase or a word and that’s when I came up with the word Khalifa, it means being a leader, it was a perfect thought which fell in place.”
“Khalifa captures the zesty spirit of gen-now/youth who bounce about painting the town red. It has been shot across various hot spots in Mumbai, and represents the confident attitude of I am the ruler of my destiny,” Arif Ali added.
Lekar Hum Deewana Dil which is being co-produced by Saif Ali Khan’s home production Illuminati Films is slated to release on 4th of July, 2014.
