Lumbini Festival is the most celebrated festival of Buddhist community. Lumbini lasts for three days and occurs during the month of December.

 

Lumbini is the birthplace of Buddha the founder of Buddhism and the observance of this festival is an attempt to acknowledge the significance of Buddha.

 

The festival is celebrated with fervor and gaiety across the state of Andhra Pradesh in order to highlight the significance of the remaining traces of Buddhist art and sculpture.

Lumbini festival occurs on the Nagarjunasagar Dam and is a source of attraction for the local tourists as well as from abroad.

 

Lumbini highlights the importance of Buddhism and propagates Buddha’s teachings.

 

Buddhist followers collect in large number in the Andhra Pradesh and celebrate the festival with joy and ecstasy. The teachings of Buddha are read aloud and the whole atmosphere becomes spiritual.

 

The three day long festival is an occasion to connect and remember the teachings of Buddha.

 

A huge monolithic statue of Buddha is present in Hyderabad and the festival of Lumbini is celebrated with devotion and joy at Hyderabad and Nagarjunasagar.

 

Exotic cultural dances are performed by the devotees who form a bee-line in the capital of Andhra Pradesh.
