The kings of Mysore have been known as the most modern and forward thinking of India’s 500 odd maharajas.
Establishing schools, colleges, universities, hospitals, and even dams for agriculture, the Wodeyars were trend setters among their ilk.
Like all the Indian royalty, they too travelled in customised Rolls Royces, of which they had a whole fleet.
However, being a caring Monarch, Krishna Raja Wodeyar IV, also ordered a customized Rolls for his servants with a hood to shield them from the hot Mysore Sun.
Built in 1911, the car was recently auctioned for British Pounds 400 Thousand!
