The central board of Excise and customs has decided to increase monetary limit for arrest and prosecution in cases of tax evasion. The limit has been increased upto 1 crore. Earlier, it was 25 lakh and 10 lakh for medium and small businesses.
This move is for preventing misuse of the old provision against small and medium businesses.
