Strawberry Rice Pudding (kheer)
A velvety soft kheer, which melts in the mouth, giving a burst of sweet and sour and rich strawberry taste.
Ingredients:
½ cup basmati rice, washed and drained
1 litre full fat milk
Sugar to taste
Strawberry jam, preferably all natural
Method:
Boil the milk, and reduce to half, and add the rice, and cook gently till done. Add sugar to taste (keep it quite less than ideal)and stir. Remove from flame and cool.
While cooling stir occasionally to prevent a layer forming on top. Chill in refrigerator.
Serving Suggestion:
When serving, put into individual bowls. Melt some strawberry jam in a pan over flame, or in a microwave safe bowl in microwave oven for a few seconds.
Spoon over the kheer, and serve.
