Sonia Lather, (57kg) was just one step away from being India’s six year old gold medalist at the AI-BA Women’s World Boxing Championship as she reached the finals after outpunching Kazakhstan’s Aizhan Khojabekova in the last four stage here on Thursday.
Sonia, who is a 24- year- old,2012 Asian Championship silver medalist defeated Khojabekova by a score of 3-0 and is now all set to compete against Italiam Alessia Mesiano, who defeated Bulgaria’s Denitsa Eliseeva by a similar margin.

The lone Indian left in the competition, Sonia was quick off the blocks against her rival.
Sonia threw Khojabekova off balance more than once by combining her right hooks with power packed jabs.
On the other hand Khojabekova was completely clueless as how to defend herself and all her attempts were being blocked by the quick thinking Haryana girl.
