SC to hear plea challenging Governments ordinance on NEET
The Supreme Court of India today will hear the petition challenging the government’s decree ordered by an apex court declaring that the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) should be the sole means to gain admission to undergraduate courses of MBBS and BDS for the academic year 2016-2017.

The petition was filed in the apex court against the decision by the well known activist Anand Rai, famous for exposing the Vyapam scam.
Centre initially accepted the apex courts order but later partially reversed it through the ordinance.
The petition stated that the Center’s decision violates the right to equality and right to life with regards to its arbitrary character and students who would suffer because of the constant change in centers stand.
The petitioner stated that different institutions across the country have to be treated with equality under the law and administrative authority should be exercised to assure a fair decision-making.
