Coached by Indonesian badminton legend Atik Jauhari since August 2008, with former All England champion coach Pullela Gopichand as a mentor, Saina Nehwal made it to the finals of the Australian Badminton open 2014 in women’s singles whose last appearance in a MetLife BWF World Superseries final was at the French Open in 2012, rediscovered some of her best form in thwarting long-time rival Wang Shixian of China 21-19 16-21 21-15
The Badminton World Federation (BWF), is for the first time being held in Australia, the winning prize of the tournament is $750,000. Compatriot P.V Sindhu lost as Sania made it to the end in the quarter-finals. The Hyderabad born will play Carolina Marin in the final on Sunday, who made her first World Superseries final by beating Japan’s Yui Hashimoto 21-17 21-16.

On December 14, 2006 The BWF Super Series was launched but it was implemented from 2007. A series of Super Series features twelve tournaments around the world, including five elevated as Premier Series, which was introduced in 2011. These series of badminton tournaments are sanctioned by Badminton World Federation.
Saina Nehwal is the first Indian to win a medal in Badminton at the Olympics; she also attained a career best ranking of 2 in December 2010 by Badminton World Federation. This is not all where she ended as she also won the Bronze medal at the London Olympics on 4 August 2012. Saina Nehwal is the first Indian who won the World Junior Badminton Championships and also the Super Series tournament. The Bronze medalist is supported by the Olympic Gold Quest an organization which promotes athletes to win medals at the Olympics.
