Saina Nehwal defeated World’s No. 1 Carolina Marin in badminton super series finals

Leading Indian shuttler Saina Nehwal surprised everyone after defeating, World’s Champion Carolina Marin in a thriller three set match to stay alive at the Badminton Super Series tournament in Dubai.

Saina, who was inconsistent at start of her tournament after her defeat against Nozomi Okuhara of Japan. Produced a brilliant performance with 23-21, 9-21, 21-12 triumph over Marin, in the contest which lasted for one hour and 15 minutes.

Saina will next face defending champion Tai Tzu Ying in the final league match today.

Meanwhile, Kidambi Srikanth suffered his second successive loss in the men’s single contest as he lost to Viktor Axelsen of Denmark with13-21, 18-21.
