His name was Dileep Kumar before he became a popular music composer from South india, A.R.Rahman. He had to face the objection of competitive fundamentalism, to his music from the Mumbai based Sunni Group.
Rehman was issued a fatwa by the Raza Academy as he set the music for the movie “Prophet, messenger of god” produced by Iranian film maker Majid Majidi.
Rahman reacting to the fatwa commented “What if Allah asked me why I did not give music to a film on his favourite Muhammad?”
