Rannvijay Singh Returns to TV with Pukaar
When we talk about an Indian television series, the first thing that comes in our head is either a ‘saas-bahu’ serial, a horror series or a reality shows. And in all this time, we have never witnessed a good show truly dedicated to the Indian Army. Life Ok, known for the uniquely themed shows, whether it is a mythology show or a talent hunt show, is coming up with Pukaar, a show with 24 episodes dedicated to portray the life of an army soldier.

Team of Pukaar briefing the media about the series
Talking on the occasion Ajit Thakur, EVP and General Manager, Life Ok said, “We always want to do experiments at Life Ok. We wanted to move beyond the boundaries and that’s how we came up with ‘Pukaar- call for the Hero’. Our new series Pukaar is dedicated to the Indian Army and we are proud to be in association with Vipul Shah, who has given hits after hits and now has put his hit formula in this series. The viewers would witness a different style of action, rarely explored on the small screen and would also see the drama which daily soaps are famous for. We have also experimented with it by airing it on unusual days that’s Monday and Tuesday in between the timings of daily soaps at- 8:30pm”
Promising to entertain and keep us thrilled, Producer Vipual Amrutlal Shah says, ” After doing three films on Army, I have brought my love for them to the small screen as well. The viewers will feel as if they are watching a movie and it would surely be a delightful experience for them. As far as the comparison with 24 series of Anil Kapoor is considered, Pukaar and 24 are very different. Pukaar comes from our society whereas 24 is a foreign concept. We have tried to present the reason why Army is being called The Hero and we hope we cross the bench mark that has been set by it.”
Vipul Shah talking about his directorial experience in Pukaar
For Rannvijay Singh, the experience was not less than living his dream of being an army personnel. Coming from an Army background, he wanted to be in the army and even managed to pass the exams however destiny had something else in store for him. Speaking on Roadies, and if the experience was of any help in Pukaar, Ranjivay said, “Roadies has given me the strength to perform any stunt without a second thought. However, Pukaar needed me to act which was not in Roadies. Vipul Sir has been a great help to me and since I come from an army background I knew a lot more about the army than any other cast member. The only pressure was to do justice to the role as I was being judged by my own family. I am thankful to Vipul sir for giving me such an opportunity.”

Talking about if Television is taking over the big screen, Vipul Shah said that “Television and Big screens are indeed complimenting each other in a big way as this step of launching the series would help the upcoming writers and present directors to move out of their comfort zone and improve the quality of movie making.”
Well, Pukaar does seem promising enough to give an enthralling experience to its audience with best on screen and off screen team on board and the action sequences done by Allan Amin would keep people amazed. So, from 24th of November grab some pop-corn and switch on Life Ok to watch Pukaar.
