The ICC board has decided to double the prize money for the top ranked test team. The prize has been increased to $1 million, with effect from April 2016. The players will be given 41%of the total prize money.
This prize money is in addition to test cricket fund of $70 million which the ICC board introduced last year to help ensure test playing teams are able to sustain a home programme of test cricket through 2023.
The fund will be available from next year to all Test Members except the BCCI, Cricket Australia and the England and Wales Cricket Board, as these are considered cash rich on their own.
