Power Project gets inaugurated in Mizoram, govt says it is working towards development of the state
Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the hydroelectric power project in Tuirial in Mizoram. Notably, PM Modi is on a visit to Meghalaya and Mizoram ahead of elections that are scheduled to take place next year.
Talking about the development of the region, the Prime Minister underlined the fact that his government constituted the ministry for development of the northeastern region so that people can get their grievances solve in their own state. Notably, Prime Minister Narendra Modi also highlighted achievements of Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s government by saying that a lot of development had happened during his work tenure.
He further added that the hydroelectric power project got clearance at the time of Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s government but was delayed after that. The completion project under Modi government is a reflection of its dedication towards the ongoing projects.

Important Details
The first unit of the project was commissioned on August 25, 2017, and the second was commissioned on November 28, 2017. The project has been built at a cost of Rs.1, 302 crores. Notably, this the biggest power project located in Mizoram and will feed entire energy to be generated to the home state. The current demand of the state is 87 MW and this is being met by the mini power projects and Central Sector Projects.
