Schools are taking preventive measures against pollution for the health of students
Pollution Level is increasing and it’s alarming
Due to the rising pollution levels in Delhi-NCR, school managements are seen taking precautions for the health of their students.
Some schools have been closed for the entire coming week, some have ordered the students to wear masks for avoiding inhaling polluted air and some have closed down the schools for Friday.
Several schools cancelled outdoor activities, physical education classes and also issued special advisories for students who have respiratory disorders due to the great rise in pollution levels in the Delhi-NCR (national capital region).
The Shri Ram School which is located in Delhi, Gurgaon and Greater Noida will remain close from Friday to Monday. Whereas Heritage School of Vasant Kunj and Gurgaon, along with Modern School, Vasant Vihar remained close on Friday due to smog and high concentration of pollutants in the air.
Class 10th and 12th students will attend classes
“This is to inform you that on account of high pollution levels in the city, the school will remain closed on Friday, 4th November and Monday, 7th November 2016,” informed the parents of students studying in Shri Ram School by authorities through a message. But students of Classes X and XII will attend the classes.
Even the Heritage School admitted that the air is cleaner indoors; hence decided to shut the school till conditions get better.
The message sent to the parents of students by school said, “As facts stand today, the outdoor PM 2.5 count in the school is 1,000 micrograms per cubic metre and the indoor air quality is between 700 and 900 micrograms per cubic metre. We’re probably the least affected, being in a far more open and less inhabited area, compared to the more interior parts of Gurgaon, which would be much worse.”
Amity School has asked all its students to wear masks to the school till pollution levels decreases.
Although, Delhi government has passed no official orders to shut schools yet. Satyendar Jain, Health and home minister said that the pollution level is highest at the night and shutting the schools would not count as a solution.
