Navratri Garba Special!!!!!

The festival of Navratri has started and its celebrations are on its peak. However, talking about this festival and missing out on Garba is just not possible. So, with this festive season on, it is now time to go gaga over the Garba dance.

Garba is played with dandiya sticks and the steps are simple yet intimidating. It is an interactive dance form where the dandiya sticks are clanked with the opposite participant’s, while taking circular rounds throughout the dance. The circular flow of the dance shows the circle of birth, death and rebirth that is popularly known as the Dandiya -Raas

The very special thing that Garba holds is the beautiful dresses; Women dress up in chaniya cholis while traditional men’s wear Kafani pyjamas with short kurta that opens like a ghagra. The colorful traditional attires look magnificent and the jewellery for the attire is in silver and women love to buy it. Not only the dresses are traditional but they are also trendy because of different designs available.

Yes, Gujarati plays garba with full enthusiasm but it is enjoyed in Maharashtra and northern parts of the country also. The performances of the Garba are organized by many clubs and cultural communities every year.

During garba night, the participants gather in the open space and a picture of Maa Durga is kept in the centre of the circle. The dance begins with the beats at the slow tempo and as the dance proceeds, the energy level increases due to the fast beats.

The Garba nights are also enormously enjoyed in the capital; at many pandals they are organized for the people to enjoy the dance form.
