Our fast growing nation is seeing many new businesses being set-up every day. One such start-up named “MiCar” launched its operations today with the aim to promote car sharing and hassle free driving. The tag line of the company “The car sharing club” sends a confusing message across to the customers. The tag is confusing to me, Will I be sharing my car ride with someone or would I be sharing the ownership of the car. Without debating the tag line, I must say the concept that the company brings to us and the service we get is more important. Conceptually, MiCar lets you hire a car, drive it yourself, and enjoy it without the annoying cab driver.
Suyagya Aggarwal, Co-founder & Director, MiCar, launched this company on the basis of his experience of a similar service during his education in the US. In his words, “As per our market survey, there is a vast untapped market for car sharing which is still at a very nascent stage. Through our venture, we want to create a new sharing economy that offers hassle free driving”.‘MiCar- the car sharing club’ has launched its services in Delhi for anyone who needs a car at lower rates and offers self-drive car rental options that suits one’s requirement and desires. Presently, the company has a fleet of 50 cars in three different categories – Compact cars, Sedans and SUV’s.
One can make the booking using the mobile app after signing up for their membership plans. The company claims to have no security deposit, no insurance liabilities, no parking hassles, no maintenance problems, no kilometers pre-loaded and a one-time documentation.
It is an interesting concept and initially should click with a few people like me, the high-end motorbike riders, who only want to drive when it is family outing which is usually twice a month. It would free me up from the headache of car maintenance and EMI’s. The only aspect that would make me their customer will be the service provided and ease of use of that service.
