Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza bags ‘Car of the Year’ award. Vitara Brezza was launched at the Auto Expo 2016. Although it is exclusively available only in diesel, the car has been a hot seller for Maruti Suzuki in India. Maruti Suzuki on this said that its SUV Vitara Brezza sold nearly 83,000 units since its launch in March this year and won the “Indian Car of the Year 2017” award.
The company issued the statement that “Vitara Brezza has sold nearly 83,000 units since its launch in March 2016, making it one of India’s top 10 selling models and propelling Maruti Suzuki to the leadership position in the utility vehicle space as well.” Competition was not easy at all. It battled it out against the Hyundai Tucson and Toyota lnnova Crysta.
This car gives the message of create in India
Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s mission of ‘Make in India’ is of course the important one and this car of the year comes under the same mission. Kenichi Ayukawa, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Maruti Suzuki, was quoted saying, “Designed and developed by a team of Maruti Suzuki engineers, using Suzuki core technology, engine and platform, Vitara Brezza is heralded as an example of Create in India. It has brought us the leadership position in the SUV segment.”
Apart from the car of the year, TVS Apache RTR 2004V has been adjudged winner of the Motorcycle of the year award. Rock artist Gary Lawyer also gave a performance of ‘Motoring Music’ with a set list specifically curate for the awards night.
Top 6 contenders in car and motorcycle category
The top six contenders in the car category were Ford Endeavour, Hyundai Tuscon, Hyundai Elantra, Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Toyota Innova Crysta and Skoda Suberb. The top five contenders in the motorcycle category were Kawasaki Versys 650 ABS, TVS Apache RTR 200 4V, Royal Enfield Himalayan, Honda Navi and TVS Victor.
