Former player and captain of Sri Lanka, Mahela Jayewardene has been awarded with life membership award of the Melbourne Cricket Club (MCC) in appreciation of his cricketing career.
Jayewardene appears on the famous Lord’s Honors Boards two times, having scored 107 and 119 against England in 2002 and 2006 respectively.
Jayewardene becomes the 14th Sri Lankan player to be awarded with MCC Honorary Life Membership with former teammates Kumar Sangakkara, Muttiah Muralitharan and Chaminda Vaas in the list.
Now, there are more than 300 voluntary Life Members of MCC out of a total Full Membership of 18,000.
