Live longer with a low-calorie diet
Low-calories food have some amazing health benefits
Now, Count your calories even if you don’t think it is needed, as a recent study has found that cutting down on calories can extend your lifespan.
Low calories
The habit of overeating can lead to health issues that can further shorten one’s life, and cause health problems such as diabetes, obesity and heart disease. Whereas, on the other end of the spectrum, several other studies have shown that restricting the calorie intake below what a normal diet carry may lead to a longer life.
In an animal study, Huiru Tang, Yulan Wang, Yong Liu and their colleagues have reported the metabolic reasons why the opposite diets may lead to such differences in longevity.
The group followed the experiment on mice, by dividing mice into four dietary categories, low-fat with calorie restriction, low-fat, high-fat and high-fat with calorie restriction, for more than a year.
They then did used nuclear magnetic resonance analysis to further examine the metabolic effects in urine and blood samples.
These researchers have found that calorie restriction did had a much bigger effect on metabolic outcomes than the fat in the diet.
Mice which was on higher calorie diets had an increase in oxidative stress, disturbed lipid metabolism, altered gut-microbial metabolites and suppressed glycolysis compared to those on the calorie-restricted regimens.
