Lesbian, gay, bisexuals are more prone to mood disorders
Recent study has revealed that gay, lesbian and bisexuals experience more mood and anxiety disorders than other people, they are more likely to turn to heavy drinking. The study done by the author Basia Pakula from University of British Columbia’s school of population and public health in Canada said that “Often gay, lesbian and bisexual people are grouper together in studies but we found there are important difference in their reported health.”
Well, the study did not find the causes of anxiety and mood disorders in this population but it seems that these people experience chronic stress related to prejudice and stigma. These people consume more alcohol to cope with ongoing stress.
Researchers suggested that study’s findings can be used to plan and allocate resources for health services that better respond to the issues facing these groups.
