INTERNET AND THE OFFENSE
They say technology is a good servant but a bad master. Especially the young batch of our world seems to have resorted to the internet for possibly anything.
Zach Anderson, a 19 yr old was recently released from a 90 day jail sentence after allegedly having sex with a 14 yr old, whom he met over a hook-up app, ‘Hot or Not’. The twist in this tale is that Zach, upon interrogation confirmed that the girl told him she was 17 and not 14. Even the girl and her mother agree on what Zach stated to the cops.
But because the victim is a minor, what Zach did became a sex offense. This has led to Zach’s name to be listed on the sex offender list till 2040. Yes, Zach will remain a sex offender for 25 YEARS. Barring him from using a smart phone or the web for the next five years, the accused is prohibited from talking to people under 17.
Zach’s parents are distraught. The most important years for a person where he learns to become a man from a boy will be spent in a total mess, at least for Zach.
