The Act is implemented by the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE), which is a statutory body under Government of India.

The act directs the creation of a cadre of professionally qualified energy auditors and managers with skills in energy management, financing, project management and implementation of energy efficiency projects.

Energy conservation implies utilizing less or minimum energy and averting excessive or careless uses.

On the other hand, energy efficiency refers to utilizing less energy while obtaining similar results.

‘Hence efficiency is a subset of conservation; one way to conserve energy is to use it more efficiently.’

Various programs such as poster competition, article competition, etc. are organized in schools and other educational institutions on this day. The main aim of celebrating the day is to encourage and spread the awareness for saving energy and conserving energy resources.
