Indian food business to grow to $65 Billion by 2018
India’s food business, currently valued at $38 Billion is expected to grow to $65 Billion by 2018, getting a healthy growth of 11 percent per annum.
This was disclosed by a joint report by Academic Foundation and IIM-Calcutta.
Also, according to the report, India spends approx 31 percent on food and grocery, unlike the USA, which spends 9 percent, and Brazil which spends 17 percent.
The report also bodes well for modern trade, whose share is expected to jump to nearly one fourth, from the current 8 percent over the next 8-10 years.
