60 years old K.C. Rao, popularly known as KCR, is himself the founder of TRS, which was created after he quit the Telugu Desam Party in April, 2001. Rao’s party is considered as one of the superior forces in Telangana politics. It also performed exceedingly well in the recently conducted Lok Sabha elections by winning eleven out of the seventeen seats in Telangana.

Prime-minister Narendra Modi also expressed his emotions on this auspicious day, he tweeted, “India gets a new state! We welcome Telangana as our 29th state. Telangana will add strength to our development journey in the coming years”. He added, “Telangana’s birth comes after years of struggle and sacrifices by several people. Earlier on 9th of December, 2009, the government of India had already given the green signal for the formation of a separate Telangana state, but it was put on hold on the 23rd of December, 2009 after the violent protests in the coastal Andhra and Rayalseema regions. However, the movement for a separate state continued in Hyderabad and other districts of Telangana and with every passing day the number of suicides, strikes and protests increased. Eventually, in February 2014, Andhra Pradesh Reorganization Act, 2014 bill was passed by the Parliament of India for the formation of the Telangana state comprising ten districts from north-western Andhra Pradesh.

After a short-period of president rule in the state, the first govt. has been announced and established in Telangana.

“I promise that I’ll not be biased and I will work independently. I will perform every duty with utmost dedication”, said K C Rao while taking his oath.

Moreover, Hyderabad is to remain as the joint capital of the both states for the next ten years.
