You may have planned a holiday or are simply planning to visit your relatives but in all such case your child’s intentions to do his/her holiday homework will be non-existent.

 

Many parents and teachers believe that homework is the only way to ensure retention of concepts taught in school. Whereas, some believe that it is not that useful because the child is not able to channelize his/her full potential during vacations. What if both homework and holidays go hand in hand?

Holidays can be the best time for students to cope with their studies as they have ample of time to manage their schedule. If they give a certain amount of time for studies during vacations they can receive good results. Parental involvement can really encourage children to do their homework.

 

Here are some simple steps through which you can make your child’s holidays more enjoyable without compromising their studies.

 

Keep a consistent place for the studies at home: Fix a place where they can study during vacations and make sure that that place has minimum distractions.

 

Make their time table: During holidays manage their time for studies. Fix a certain time for them to study.

 

Give frequent breaks: As children have holidays their behavior would remain laid back and forcing them to study for longer time would be worthless because they would not concentrate.

Parental involvement: You can help your children with their homework and it would also give you quality time with your kids.

 

If your child is done with his homework you can make him do a rapid revision of his syllabus.

 

Give them worksheets to solve but ensure that you don’t force them every time. Give them time for enjoyment with their friends.

 

Encourage them for extracurricular activities: Tell them to play any physical game like football, and in fact you can also participate.

 

Tell him to start his homework with his favorite subject. This would boost his/her energy level and he would not get bored.

 

Just a few efforts can make holiday homework fun for students rather than just a burden. Holidays can be more fun for the students to learn new things, because at this time they are more refreshed and more adept to new information.
