Greg Chappell- The finest batsmen turns 67
Today is the day when one of the greatest Australian cricketers was born. Greg Chappell was an exceptional batsman and had an average of 53.86 in the 87 test matches that he played before retiring.
Unfortunately, he is remembered by the World as a man full of controversies. His tactic of bowling underarm to the Kiwis was not taken by the World well. Also, as head coach of India he had a spat with the then captain of Indian team, Sourav Ganguly and the subsequent poor performance of Indian team in 2007 World Cup led to his removal.
Fun Fact – He is the only batsman to have scored a century in his debut innings, century in both the innings to his captaincy debut and a century in the last innings.
