Govt will soon import 5,000 tonnes of Toor Dal.
As pulses prices still ruling high, the govt recently has issued a tender to import 5,000 tonnes of pigeon peas to boost domestic supply from next month. State – run MMTC has invited bids for supply of 5,000 tonnes of pigeon peas.
Govt feared that pulses prices may flare up again in 2016 due to little improvement in domestic out plant as compared to 2015, The governemnt has therefore directed MMTC to import more pulses to improve domestic availability.
According to the tender document MMTC has invited global bids to import of 5,000 tonnes of pigeon peas of the latest crop from Myanmar, Malawi and other origins.
