Fugue State
Fugue State or Dissociative fugue, as it is now known is a type of psychological disorder. It comes under the sub category of dissociative identity disorder.
The DSM 5 categorises it as a part of the dissociative amnesia. During this state, a person ‘wanders’ off and travels to new places and also assumes a new identity. Memories from his or her previous life is not known to that person.
The fugue state can be very short (hours, days) to a little longer (weeks, months, or longer). The main trigger for this is believed to be some type of stressful event.
After the fugue state is over, there is usually no memory of what happened in that state. People suffering from this usually have problems in memory and confusion in identity.
But, this can be treated with the correct help. More so, people usually have just one such episode in their life.
