India has been zelously persuing illegal foreign accounts of Indian nationals, specially in the alpine nation of Switzerland. The whole matter snowballed, when a HSBC Bank list with names surfaced a few years ago.
Among the names was that of Praneet Kaur, wife of Cap. Amarinder Singh, Former Punjab Chief Minister, and ertwhile Maharaja of Patiala, and her son Raninder Singh.
At that time, Kaur vehemently denied having any foreign bank account, and that was that.
However, the matter has now got a fresh lease of life with the Indian Government requesting help from Swiss authorities, which in turn has asked Praneet Kaur and her son to file objection within 10 days with the relevant courts in Switzerland.
