Film Piracy hits Ketan’s Manjhi
The menace of film industry – piracy has now started targetting films even before their reiease.
The new Ketan Mehta film – Manjhi: The Mountain man is slated for commercial release on Aug. 21. However, much to the shock and dismay of the producers and team of the film, it’s watermark copy (one intended only for showing distributors, etc.) has already been released on torrent.
This is the latest in a series of films to fall prey after Papnasam, Bajrangi Bhaijaan, among others.
What is worrying is that since films take more than a year at times, and millions of dollars to complete, such acts can and do cause grevious financial loss.
Even if done as a prank, such acts have a long term debilitating effect on a industry, already reeling under pressure from the idiot box, and the net. This not only affects the pockets of a few, but also have a long term effect on the jobs of the millions of crew and extras, who make the backbone of the industry Worldwide.
